Pity wasn’t her calling,
resilience was.

Certainty wasn’t the future,
overcoming impossibles were.

Hope didn’t always exist,
faith always had.

Giving selflessly was admired,
a gift misunderstood.

Receiving wasn’t an option,
earning it was.

Hardships were just ripples,
meticulousness would wash them away.

Progress had to be for herself,
determination would be solo

A medly of flavorful masala,
unique from the status quo.

Conscientious
by Twinkle VanFleet

Distance, resistance
Defiance, compliance

Residual, peripheral
Visions, decisions

Subjective, objective
Experiences, differences

Reckless, perspective
Gracious, reflective

Ambition, intuition
Volition, submission

Relevancy, hesitancy,
Prevenancy, indefinitely

Precognition, transition
Recondition, re position.

Just One More Step

By Twinkle VanFleet

Twinkle V and Baby Ozra 1997

My baby son and I- West Sacramento- Spring, 1997

I fight, you fight,
We fight together.
You fight, I fight,
We win forever.

“Just one more step, Mama!
Just one more step”
The little voice echoed,
Made it over the doorstep.

Let go, let go!
Neighbors gathered around,
She spread her wings,
The sticks hit the ground.

The little boy beamed,
In the crowd of praise.
Flying solo,
Because of him, she prayed.

I fight, you fight..
For that one more step!
You fought, I fought!
Haven’t stopped yet.

(Hook)
Step up, step down,
Step in, step out,
Step to, step from,
Just one more step Mama!
Just one more step!
Step it up, Step!
Just one more step Mama
Just one more step.

Just one

one

one

Just one more

(Chorus)
I fight, you fight
We fight together
You fight, I fight
We win forever

(Fight! we fightin’ it)

(Fight it)

(Just one more)

(All it takes)

(Just that one)

I fight, you fight..
For that one more step,
You fought, I fought
Haven’t stopped yet.

(Still fighting)

(Steppin’)

(You Steppin’)

(Just one more step, mine)

We haven’t stopped yet

This quote has been on the internet for over a decade. It originated from my 3 year old son. I carried those words online. They came from the mouth of a babe for his mama (me). On the internet it’s ©Kurtis V. Kurtis V is Kurtis VanFleet a.k.a Kurtis Ozie, Ozie and Ozra.

Awoken

Grand Universe by Antifan Real

She thinks she can make it now
She knows that there there’s no win or lose.
She thinks that the fight is a matter of mind,
She knows that we give up or choose.

She believes that pain is a matter of perception,
We hide ourselves in ache, loss and rejection
She thinks that she can move past the hell,
She knows she has his protection.

She heard the whispers and saw the descent,
She felt the flutter and witnessed the havoc
She thinks forever is in the palm of his hand,
She knows life is precious, tragic and magic.

She hid in the dark, safe from the violence,
She kept from the path that could lead to no return
She shrugged off the violations,
Yet still felt the burn.

She wore the brand and inclined her head,
She was obedient and gave obeisance
She came out of the silence,
And revoked public acquiescence.

She saw tomorrow through the light,
She saw beyond the material world
She felt the vibrations and breathed in time,
Awoken, as the universe whirled.

A Bit of Hope

A Bit of Hope

By Twinkle VanFleet

shutterstock_129078545 - GodsHand

A hand reached out from heaven,

And lifted her toward the sky,

She saw a glimpse of heaven,

Through the twinkle in his eyes.

I give to you the world,

There you will change many lives,

Because of you, they will love me,

They will see me… the spirit,

Through your eyes.

I gave to you hope,

You will always hope for them,

I gave to you a voice,

Use it now and again.

I gave you a golden heart,

So it may always be true,

I gave to you the personality,

I made not another soul like you.

You will always shine,

Like stars of the night-light,

You are a special one,

From the dust,

I made you right.

Your words will teach them,

Only a few and I will understand,

His heart will love you,

He receives from me your hand.

Teach them the truth,

You will know what it means,

You will be the many winds,

Beneath his wings.

He will cherish you, but

Your own heart will cherish him more,

Together, you must share with the world,

My hopes and dreams

Hope is what I made you for.

Flash Flood

Flash flood,
Almost could’ve.

Bled out,
Still hoping about.

High risk,
Twice amiss.

Damaged,
Let go.

Oh my!
What do ya know.
Smiling,
Whoa!

Wait!
“What do you mean?”
Flash Floods,
Just a bad dream.

Break down, shake down,
Advisement under care.
Back down, throw down,
Submission to despair.

Let down,
No one around,
Breathe!
3 abound.

Flash Flood,
Back into the blood.
Always there,
Forever loved.

17

By Twinkle Wood-VanFleet

For my husband Erik VanFleet

If 17 could last forever, my flight just left the ground-

Heading for my home town, young and summer bound.

If 17 might last forever, oh yes! That’s where I’d be-

Ssh! Can you feel that moment, the first time you laid eyes on me.

Listen! Can you hear the music? Would you have looked my way again?

Would the song still be playing, or ending just as friends?

If 17 could last forever, still at the river, in the sand?

Or strolling through Old Sac, while walking hand in hand.

Hey! Can you feel the summer time heat? June through hot August nights-

Our first night at Garcia’s Bends, together beneath the moonlight.

Oh! Can you feel that memory, as you first took me in your arms?

If that summer had just begun, would you still shower me with charms?

If 17 would last forever, could you have loved me in the end?

I just close my eyes and remember, I’m still 17 again.

Without hope,

We would have nothing to pray for-

Without faith,

We would have nothing to believe in,

Without life and death,

We would have nothing to look forward to-

Without God,

We would have been nothing at all.

Look At Us Now

LOOK AT US NOW

By Twinkle VanFleet

E and T October 26, 2013

Him and I, October 26, 2013.

To love is without judgement; you know this must be true-

No man can put asunder, forever- only you.

Only rarely did we struggle- until suddenly came at once,

But even after the fall, our love outlasted the punch.

You never had to prove to me- you always tried your best,

Your determination would bring us up- but no one would have guessed.

Tremendous is my faith in you- I’ve never been unsure,

I’ve never doubted your abilities, because i knew who you were.

Endlessly praying for your spirit-during the cold hard run,

Prayers would soon be answered, the challenges overcome.

Acknowledging determined ambitions- that were virtually always missed,

Accomplishments defended with pride- that some said couldn’t exist.

Content in regards to our future, my love for you- never in doubt,

Lips once quivering babbled words- will dwell in endless pout.

True love will never make judgements, trust and faith in the solemn vow-

Baby, did you know we would reach it- Te Amo, look at us now.

Deuces

By Dyversiti
Eighth Note Stars

Two becomes one beat

Everybody tryin’a own me
(Control me)
Nobody wanna just show me
(Nah)
People don’t wanna jus run with me
They also gotta have a bitta piece of me
(My piece)
No one wanna keep real for the loyalty in me
They need’a go back and carry what’s mine of me
(Carry it)
People want your silence when you know of them
They won’t give any back when it’s you or them
Everyone catch the deuce when I’m down again
(Deuces)
So
(Chorus)
If you ain’t down to jus roll with me
Why Imma give you the best of me
If you ain’t got me on the flip side
Why Imma grab you from the slip and slide
Aint no body got you for the ride or die
Just wanna play you ’til they see you fly
A’ight
 (Hook)
Everybody wanna jus own us
(control us)
Nobody tryin’a just show for us
(Nope)
People don’t wanna just be with us
They also gotta take a little piece of us
(That piece)
No one wanna keep real for the loyalty in us
They have’ta go back and carry what’s ours of us
(Ours)
People reap our silence when we know of them
They won’t devote it back when it’s us or them
(Nuh uh)
Everybody catch the deuce when we up again
(Deuces)
(Chorus 2)
If you ain’t down to jus roll with us
Why we gonna give you the best of us
If you ain’t got us on the flip side
Why we gonna save you from that slip and slide
Ain’t no body got us for the ride or die
but they come right back when they see us fly
(Flying)
Yep
